WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and a bipartisan group of elected officials will hold a press conference in Northeast Philadelphia on February 3 at 10:45 AM to express opposition to the nomination of Debo Adegbile to serve as Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the Department of Justice.  Adegbile volunteered to represent Mumia Abu-Jamal.

Prior to being nominated to the Assistant Attorney General post, Debo Adegbile worked for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund as its director of litigation.  In this role, he authorized representation and work on behalf of Mumia Abu-Jamal, who murdered Philadelphia police officer Daniel Faulkner in 1981.
