Fresh off the court, Ron Castille is dipping his toe back into political waters.
Castille, who served as Chief Justice of Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court from 2008 to 2014, has endorsed Martina White in the special election for the170th State House District.
Before serving on the Court, Castille was Philadelphia’s District Attorney from 1986 to 1991. In 1991 he ran for Mayor but came up short in the Republican primary.
Now, White is the first candidate to earn his endorsement since he stepped down from the bench.
“Martina White has the integrity, professional skills, and understanding of the Northeast that we need in the state legislature today,” Castille said. “She will bring passion, real-world financial skills, and commitment to Harrisburg.”
“When someone who has given so much to public service – as a war veteran, a District Attorney, and a Supreme Court Justice – chooses to support you, it is truly humbling,” White said in accepting Castille’s endorsement. “Chief Justice Castille is well-known as a no-nonsense, non-partisan leader who always strives to do what is right. I will work hard to be the same way as State Representative by saying no to the partisan games and focusing on the issues that help Northeast families, seniors and children.”
